Orion’s Attic recently helped a senior transition to a smaller residence after she selected the belongings she wanted to keep. By the time we arrived, her favorite furniture, artwork, and personal treasures were already spoken for.

Because she had already kept many of her most valuable possessions, the home contained very little that belonged in auction. Instead, we sorted the remaining contents and identified many useful household items for donation. Those items found new homes through local charities instead of ending up in a landfill.
A Successful Move Includes the Unexpected
One part of the project surprised our client.
She knew she still owned several pieces of jewelry but had not considered selling them. After evaluating the collection, we discovered it was worth far more than she expected.
The sale generated several thousand dollars in additional proceeds. That money came as a welcome bonus during an already stressful move.
We also gathered household hazardous materials, including paint and paint thinner. We then coordinated their safe reuse or proper disposal through our friends at Yuck Old Paint.
By the end of the project, the house was empty and ready for its next chapter. More importantly, our client could settle into her new home without worrying about what remained behind.
She thanked us repeatedly for making the process easier than she expected. She also told us the jewelry sale inspired her to look through the pieces she had brought to her new home. She hopes to have us evaluate those items as well.
