A Moment That Makes Us Pause
During a recent estate cleanout, we came across a small group of pet-related items—things that clearly once belonged to a well-loved animal. Bowls, supplies, the quiet traces of a daily routine that mattered to someone.
Those are the moments when we slow down.
Instead of treating everything as “stuff,” we try to think about where it can do the most good. And for pet items, we almost always have the same answer.
Where Those Items Go
We brought these items to the Montgomery County Humane Society in Rockville—a place we regularly donate to as part of our estate cleanout process.
This isn’t a one-time gesture. When we’re working through a home, we’re constantly sorting with intention: what can be sold, what can be donated, and what can be responsibly recycled. Animal-related items almost always get set aside for donation, because we know there are shelters that can put them to immediate use.
Why It Matters
It’s a small decision in the context of a full cleanout—but it’s one that reflects how we approach the work as a whole.
Less to the landfill. More going where it’s actually needed.
Supporting organizations like the Montgomery County Humane Society is just part of that philosophy—and part of what it means to be the “green choice” in estate liquidation.
